You are fortunately young and can help yourself recover if you cooperate with the medication and therapy. Yes, I suggest that you go for counseling too. You seem to suggest that you suffer from weak ego boundaries and you are likely to become very suggestive and associate with other people's problems without detachment. Overthinking is a feature of a disturbed mind. I believe there may be some genetic predisposition or there has been some childhood issue, related to anger, that needs urgent attention. You must go and meet with a counselor immediately. Please visit these professionals along with your parents. In the meantime, please do the following sincerely because you could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: have a good night?s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do yoga meditation exercises, spend time in nature or gardening, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend yoga classes, etc. Watch sitcoms on tv or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it, and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in god to alleviate your sufferings. Don?t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard work must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be content with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do calisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved. Â

Lybrate user, it is very normal to have negative thoughts at your age because of a number of stressors such as academic/career pressures, intimate relationship issues, hormonal influences, etc. You can talk to any reliable person about your problems which may give some kind of emotional support, being physically active in the form of regular exercises will help you a lot. Keep a diary to write down all the negative thoughts on the left side of it, and evaluate or find the evidence that would cause the probability of happening to you. And also try to write some positive thoughts in places of the negative ones, on the right side of the diary. Regular practice of this activity will help you immensely to understand your own mind and help you overcome your sleep disturbances. Also, keep on taking the meds as per your doctor's advice. You can also benefit from counseling to a large extent, which we can do through private consultation. Â

Wa-alaikum-salaam, the medicines given for your anxiety and depression take 4-8 weeks to act and bring them under control if not consult your psychiatrist and get it revised, a combination will certainly bring them under control. If after 2-3 reviews you do not improve, take a second opinion. Also combine cognitive behaviour therapy along with antidepressants for better results. Good luck. Â

Here are some ways you can overcome depression and anxiety: cry: some researchers say that crying helps to communicate pain to others. It is found that crying removes toxins from the body. But do not cry if you don?t feel like it. Exercise: it is found that exercise releases endorphins and other chemicals that eventually helps to fight sadness. Moreover it helps you develop energetic and positive personality. Smile: even though you are feeling down, smiling have the strongest positive effect on your mood. Listen to music: if you listen music to reminisce the sad situations you had, this deteriorates you. So I recommend you to listen instrumental and the numbers that you prefer. Keep yourself busy: the more you have leisure time, the more chance of getting back and regretting oneself. So it would be best to spend your time on creative stuffs and involvement on the social clubs that makes you involving. Meditation: the best way to get rid of depression is meditation. It helps you control your own brain and soul. It is said that meditation cures almost all the diseases except aids, cancer of third stage and last stage of tv. I seriously recommend you for meditation. Be in touch with family and friends: sharing the feeling of sadness with others makes them feel less intense. Talk to your doctor: some of the depression symptoms severely affect your daily life. I recommend you to visit physician. They may prescribe you antidepressant medications that help you regulate the hormones in your brain. Never ever switch or stop taking antidepressant medications without consulting physician. This could result serious health and mood issues. Get sunlight: do not keep yourself in a dark room. Exposure to the sunlight helps you elevate your mood. Stop the negative self talk: it is found that depressed people tend to see the world in a negative way. When things go wrong they blame themselves and when they go right, they put it down to luck. Monitor your inner negative talk and never take your thoughts seriously when you are feeling low. Â
