Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. Please understand hypothyroidism is a condition were the thyroid gland of that person is either not producing enough of T4(Thyroxine) or nil at all. So that person needs to take synthetic levothyroxine supplementation to meet the need. This hormone is required for many vital functions of the body like maintaining body temperature, heart rate, normal brain activity and running many metabolic activities. So it has to be supplanted from out side. The moment you stop that supplementation, the condition will come back. So the treatment is for the lifetime. There is no cure, it can only be controlled by taking specified amount of Levothroxie. I do not understand why did he stop the treatment on his own? Now he has to start taking the same dose, then check TSH level again after 6 weeks to see if necessary level is regained or not, If you have any doubts please do cme back. But do not stop medication. Thanks.
