I am a diabetic, presently taking gibtulio 25 mg early morning with nupenta dsr, along with geminor m-2 twice a day for this heavy urination frequently, just advice for treatment alternate medicine instead of gibtulio 25 mg because of cost effective?

Hello, Thanks for the query. The tablet mentioned containing Empgliflozin 25 mg is expensive. All the different brands containing SGLT 2 Inhibitors are expensive, being recent introduction in the treatment of diabetes. Since there is no mention of your FBG, PP & HbA1c% and other related parameters like serum creatinine, urea, lipid profile, extent of daily exeercise and dietary details, there is no way to suggest any change in the treatment. Heavy urinary frequency is most probably due to gibtulio 25 mg, because its mechanism of action, it prevents reabsorption of glucose in renal tubules hence glucose is excreted in urine to lower blood sugar. You can stop this medicine but that will increase your blood sugar hence some alternative medicine need to start. Acarbose may be tried. Discuss with your treating physician. Get your urine routine/microscopic and culture /sensitivity test done to rule out uti.
