From your question we have gathered that you suffer from a gum disease which is known as "periodontitis" or "pyria" it has been caused due to poor oral hygiene and habit of chewing gutka. So before anything else, the periodontitis has to be treated. There are various forms of periodontitis. Although, the signs and symptoms varies between different forms. Generally it shows: deposits (in case of chronic periodontitis) swelling of gums, bleeding (on probing) mobility (loosening) attachment loss (detachment of the gums, clinical sign) gingival recession (gum receding) etc. Swelling is caused by the chemicals and toxins released by bacteria in the plaque & calculus (tarter). The best way to reduce the swelling is to get the tarter removed. The procedure is call scaling and root planning (teeth cleaning). Also, salt water gargles (luke warm water) helps. Some astringent (removes protein, hence water get removed) lotion will also help. Once your periodontitis heals, you can eat whatever you wish with no worries! take care!
