Hello Dr, I have PCOS issues from 2 years and I?m taking medicines on a regular basis. But my last tests were fine as testosterone was 49, shbg was 36.23, 3rd gen TSH ultra sensitive was 3.35, lh was 10.8, fsh was 3.2, prl was 14.10, but my doctor started medicine of thyroid thyroxine sodium tablets i.p 25 mcg and Aldactone 50 for six months. I want to know that is it fine to have this medicine for this much long term? Please suggest because I don?t want to have thyroid medicine for a lifetime.

At present you don't need to start Thyroid medication. Probably, get your self checked for Insulin resistance and Diabetes.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Madam Spironolactone is used in PCOD to reduce absorption of androgens (testosterone) and reduce symptoms associated with that like male pattern of hair growth. It is usually given along with birth control pills. As regards Levothyroxine I am sure you have been already taking it to control TSH, hence it has to be continued in the same dosage. If you have any questions please do come back.Thanks.
