I broke the top most joint of left hand's smallest finger, it's been 4 weeks. X-ray shows a small bone piece protruding at almost right angle. It has created an opening on the finger and I can literally feel the bone if I touch there. And a doctor I consulted said tendon is broken. I want that joint of mine to work as I play guitar. Are there any test which could tell accurately that my tendon has been torn or not? If it's broken, what are my options?

RICE stands for rest, ice, compression, and elevation. Rest. Avoid putting weight on the painful knee. Ice. Use cold packs for 20 minutes at a time, several times a day. Do not apply ice directly on skin. Compression. To prevent additional swelling, lightly wrap the knee in an elastic bandage, leaving a hole in the area of the kneecap. Make sure that the bandage fits snugly and does not cause additional pain. Elevation. As often as possible, rest with your knee raised up higher than your heart.
