Hello, Is it normal to get pain during root canal procedure and the doctor did not give anaesthesia properly. I can say it because she was treating my upper tooth but my lower tooth got numb as compared to upper tooth. Please give me information as I have 1 more root canal.

It is normal to experience some pain in the beginning of starting the root canal treatment. But feeling of pain during the entire procedure of root canal indicates that the tooth was not completely numb. You can tell your dentist to try to give nerve block instead of local infiltration, that way you will not feel any pain during the entire root canal procedure. Sometimes the truth is supplied by many nerves and to completely make it painless treatment all those nerves need to be anesthetised. Any experienced dental surgeon would know how to do that, so try communicating this to your dentist and see the results if you are still not satisfied then you may seek second opinion at another practice. Good morning lybrate-user Thanks for the query Yes Sometime if tooth is infected, anesthesia does not act as per it's strength and leads to pain during RCT. As per your words regarding you got your lower jaw anesthesia instead of upper, that's very rare or I can say I heard it first time. Don't worry if you are comfortable after RCT of that tooth is done go for the RCT of other tooth with same dentist.Â
