Various causes of high blood pressure is: Being overweight or obese, Lack of physical activity, Too much salt in the diet, Too much alcohol consumption (more than 1 to 2 drinks per day, Stress,Older age, Genetics,Family history of high blood pressure. Get yourself evaluated for all the above mentioned. Exercise daily, avoid stress, avoid drinking alcohol or smoking etc. Increase intake of green vegetables etc. Consult to get yourself examined for underlying pathology.

It is possible for BP to be high due to anxiety, stress, excessive work out or salt or tea and coffee consumption. And sometimes with no underlying problem this is called as idiopathic hypertension. You have not mentioned your BP levels and whether you were actually medically diagnosed as hypertensive. Occasional readings of more than high BP do not necessarily mean you have hypertension.
