I have thyroid from last 5 years and its fluctuating. Last June 2017 I checked it was normal 3.55 and taking 100 mcg thyronorm. Due to irregular period, I checked again its 6.88 now. Do I need to increase dosage? I regularly do 40-45 mins exercise on treadmill and few yogasanas for 30 mints. My weight is 55. 8 kg and height 5.1 ft.

Hello, Thanks for the query. When on treatment with adequate dose of levothyroxine TSH is maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L, at that level all the symptoms of hypothyroidism are well in check. When levels go up (6.88 mU/L), most of the symptoms may return. So it is essential to maintain TSH as mentioned above. Hence, you may have to increase the dose by 12.5 mcg per day. Then check TSH again after 6 weeks. As regards your weight and height, both are fine, as your BMI is 23.25 kgs/M2.(normal < 23 kgs/M2) Thanks.
