lybrate-user. Thanks for the query. TSH 4.2 mU/L is with in the normal range. So if this is the first time tested value then there is no need for any treatment. Levothyroxine is usually prescribed when TSH is over 10 mU/l. Even for values between 6 to 9.9 mU/L there is no treatment advocated. Only in cases where there are severe troublesome symptoms of hypothyroidism presnet even at lower values (6 to 9.9) then some times treatment is given. With the value mentioned 4.2 mU/l there is NO Hypothyroidism. Thanks.
