I always have a high resting heart rate of around 100. I have been smoking for 10 years but I have many friends who smoke and yet their resting heart rate is 70-80. Kindly advise on how to bring it to normal levels. I am a regular gym goer since 2 years and my body fat percentage is 10-12 mostly. I eat very clean and rarely engage in junk or binge eating. Need expert advice.

Smoking it self is harmful for the body for the heart brain and whole system so kindly stop smoking and never compare bad habits with others as no one knows where they r leading to by continuous smoking and other bad habits definitely it has cardiac complications, cancer risk so kindly stop smoking and once get a cardiac evaluation done.

Please understand that everyone's body behaves differently. A pulse rate around 100 is not very high as normal rate ranges from 60 to 100. there can be various reasons why your heart rate is on the higher side. mostly physiological. try to quit smoking. you don't compare things like 'because its not causing harm to anyone else, it shouldn't do any bad to you'. Not everyone who eats a lot of food ends up gaining weight. people have different metabolism rates and likewise our brains have different tolerating power. may be you become too conscious or anxious while checking your heart rate. from next time, relax, take deep and slow breaths then get it checked.
