Carotid Artery Disease is a condition characterized by accumulation of a greasy substance called plaque inside the carotid arteries. The carotid arteries which are present on each side of the neck helps to supply and distribute oxygen to and from the brain. The blood flow to the brain is obstructed as the arteries are clogged with the fatty deposits. This condition can cause fatal complications like seizures and strokes which can happen due to lack of blood flow to the brain leading to insufficient oxygen supply. Within minutes, the brain cells start to gradually die.
