Dear Lybrate user, for any deaddiction treatment, the strong desire in the patient to quit the addiction is the base for success -- so we have to strongly convince him the danger of continuing the habit - --you may take him to cancer hospitals ; wards with copd patients etc and let him see the sufferings of such people and let him hear from them --how they got the disease. Also persons whom he love and respect may try to convince him ; sometimes a tragic incident in his family may be the trigger for this decision -- let us hope-- he will not wait for such a tragedy to take the strong decision.---once he had taken the decision you can take him to a suitable center for deaddiction and have the treatment --the most important point is -he shall not go back to the same environment which made him an addict ---you have to arrange for social and other type of rehabilitation to him .-----ok.

Its almost 13 months of my quit smoking. Over come many effects of smoking cessation under guidance and advice from doctors. Now a weird issue with me 1. Whenever someone do smoke near me my entire body feels very weird, feelings like light head or headache occur from out of the blue, my face and neck feels tight and my saliva starts filled up my throat 2. My lower jaw becomes tight I feel like I am not able to open my mouth normally on advice from cari doctors I have been to dentist, cardio, neuro, ent and de addiction opd. Than cari doctor who examined me at first said not to worry just be on track but I found it very hard most of the time cause I am not able to control these weird things or feelings. I usually sit down, close my eye and breath. After few minutes my body become normal but those 5, 10 minutes always hard for me to face. Doctor always advice to me that I must have a well planned diet and lifestyle for at least next 12 months .he always rejects any kind of medicine saying you should not depend on them any advice.

Research shows that smoking marijuana causes chronic bronchitis and marijuana smoke has been shown to injure the cell linings of the large airways, which could explain why smoking marijuana leads to symptoms such as chronic cough, phlegm production, wheeze and acute bronchitis. 1 please stop smoking completely to have healthy.

Distract yourself. Do the dishes, turn on the tv, take a shower, or call a friend. The activity doesn’t matter as long as it gets your mind off smoking. Remind yourself why you quit. Focus on your reasons for quitting, including the health benefits (lowering your risk for heart disease and lung cancer, for example), improved appearance, money you’re saving, and enhanced self-esteem. Get out of a tempting situation. Where you are or what you’re doing may be triggering the craving. If so, a change of scenery can make all the difference. Reward yourself. Reinforce your victories. Whenever you triumph over a craving, give yourself a reward to keep yourself motivated. Find an oral substitute – keep other things around to pop in your mouth when cravings hit. Try mints, carrot or celery sticks, gum, or sunflower seeds. Or suck on a drinking straw. Keep your hands busy – squeeze balls, pencils, or paper clips are good substitutes to satisfy that need for tactile stimulation. Brush your teeth – the just-brushed, clean feeling can help banish cigarette cravings. Drink water – slowly drink a large glass of water. Not only will it help the craving pass, but staying hydrated helps minimize the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. Get active – go for a walk, do some jumping jacks or pushups, try some yoga stretches, or run around the block. Try to relax – do something that calms you down, such as taking a warm bath, meditating, reading a book, or practicing deep breathing exercises go somewhere smoking is not permitted – step into a public building, store, mall, coffee shop, or movie theatre, for example. Deep breathe. Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of three and exhale through your mouth for a count of three. Visualize your lungs filling with fresh air.

I was drinking regularly for the past 10-12 days almost regularly leaving 2-3 days without it. Now whenever I smoke 2-3 puffs of cigarette I cough up and feel like vomiting and I might have thrown up a little once or twice but I control it by eating a little sugar. But when I drink 2-3 pegs of whiskey the smoking doesn't affect. What should I do? From today I have started drinking green tea what else should I do.

Age? Since when r you having this? What r other symptoms that you r experiencing? By doing what like walking, exertion, eating or empty stomach- it increases or decreases in intensity. For how much time the pain remains? Is there stiffness also? How is your appetite? R you constipated? Any problem in urine? I need details of case. Do check your lft, cbc, ultrasound abdomen. In the meanwhile follow this 1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Don't overeat 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. U should eat whatever your mother or grandparent eat in bfast. I mean to say whatever is your traditional food. If punjabi eat paratha, if belongs to south then take idli/ dosa etc. 4. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits, a handful of peanuts, any fresh n seasonal fruit, a cup of curd/milk etc 5. Finish your dinner at least 2 hours before going to sleep. 6. Maintain active life style7. Avoid fast foods, spicy n fried foods, carbonated beverages 8. Take a lot of green vegetables n fruit. 9. Drink lot of water.10. Everyday preferably sleep on same time exercise in the form of yoga, cycling, swimming, gym etc. Till lockdown do suryanamaskar every day. for this homeopathy offers good results. Consult online with details.
