Actually my question is if I get lung cancer or some other deadly disease when will get it if continued smoking at this rate? And will I end my life with that disease or it will just get painful. General Physician,
Dear lybrate-user smoking has many harmful effects on heart and lung. It is difficult to predict when you will manifest symptoms, bu the damage is already done. You must try to give it up as you take too many cigarrettes in a day. Copd can be a very difficult disease with breathlessness. You can live many years with it but it is quite distrssing as you are constantly and progressively breathless/ please stop smoking. There are goups that can help. Also nicotine gum to help you leave smoking.

I have been smoking 2 cigarettes a week or 2 weeks. What harm did it make to my body? Is it okay to smoke twice a month? Am I safe after smoking 1 cigarette a week for a year?

General Physician,
Hello, as we all know that smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer. There are several researches done and papers published on this. Although it is difficult to calculate the risk associate with it. It totally depends on person’s overall health and it’s response to the inhalation of toxic smoke. So it won’t be appropriate to say that you will be safe after smoking 1 cigarette or 2 for how long. It is advisable to quit smoking as early as possible and lead a healthy life.

Age? Any symptoms? 1. Do saline gargles daily. 2. Whenever possible do steam inhalation also. 3. Cover your nose and mouth with hanky for at least 30 sec when you go in dusty areas also when you go in and out of ac. As our nose is the most sensitive part of our body, when there is temperature difference between two rooms or inside n outside, then if we not protect our nose, it gets affected. 4. Drink hot liquids --hot liquids relieve nasal congestion, prevent dehydration, and soothe the uncomfortably inflamed membranes that line your nose and throat. Homeopathic treatment has very encouraging results and gives relief in long term consult online with details.

Follow this 1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Don't overeat 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. U should eat whatever your mother or grandparent eat in bfast. I mean to say whatever is your traditional food. If punjabi eat paratha, if belongs to south then take idli/ dosa etc. 4. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits, a handful of peanuts, any fresh n seasonal fruit, a cup of curd/milk etc 5. Finish your dinner at least 2 hours before going to sleep. 6. Maintain active life style7. Avoid fast foods, spicy n fried foods, carbonated beverages 8. Take a lot of green vegetables n fruit. 9.
