Relax dear Lybrate user. First of all let me know long have you been taking quitipin as how is the benefit. As you are already having anxiety issues, it is not advisable to think or try to quit smoking because it might increase your anxiety levels and therefore you might fail in both (treatment for anxiety and smoking sensation). Relax. Just try to cut down the no. Of cigarettes to half of your present nos. Get treatment for anxiety issues with a psychiatrist and also a psychologist because it should be addressed by a multidimensional approach. I will also be helpful if you want further guidance /counseling through Lybrate's paid up consultation.

Only by using strong will power and avoiding all situations where you feel like smoking, chewing tobacco/ or drugs or drinking or using drugs/ weed, avoiding friends who smoke and diverting mind by reading or chewing a gum, like NICORETTE and taking a walk when you crave for a smoke can all help. You can chew Nicorette gum which is nicotine replacement. There are medicines available. Which can be prescribed if asked personally Cigarette smoking is a leading preventable cause of mortality. It kills more than 60 lakh people worldwide every year. More than 50% of regular smokers would invariably die from tobacco-related illnesses which includes heart attack, cancer or asthmatic lung diseases. Best age to stop smoking is before 40 31st May is “World No Tobacco Day” Quitting smoking before the age of 40 is associated with larger decline in premature death than stopping it at a later date. Best age therefore to stop smoking is before 40.

Dear lybrateuser, - To leave your habit you have to develop a strong willpower & determination - decide a fixed date when you want to leave, you have to completely stop from that day, it cannot be reduced gradually & stopped - remove all the items connected with it like cigarettes, lighter, ashtray etc from the house or where ever you keep it so that they are out of reach & you cannot get them if a strong urge is there - don't let your friends influence you to start again even one smoke will pull you back - keep your mind busy when urge is there, watch TV, go out for a walk, solve a puzzle, talk to a friend or whatever activity can distract your mind when you know that the urge will be there - if it is still difficult then use a nicotene chewing gum which is taken when the urge is there so that the craving gradually decreases - have plenty of oral fluids to wash off the toxins from the body - involve yourself in regular exercise to build your body - have a well balanced diet with more of fruits, vegetables & whole grains, protein rich foods to boost your immunity & to keep your body fit.

Thanks different ways to quit smoking is not a disease. It is a sign or symptom of some underlying unresolved stress which needs to be resolved psychologically till that time 1. If unable to quit by williness. Then you may think of adding replacement therapy like nicotine tablets. 2. You may try nicotine patch. 3. You may try Champix therapy (vernicilline medicine) course of 8 weeks -(google it for details) 4. You may go for psychological test to know your personality 5. You may opt for psychotherapy for stress identification removal n treatment 6. Latest therapy rtms therapy (googleit) for more details. Latest therapy for deaddiction.

Hello, thank you for informing me about your problem, your problem would take time and till the time you will not modify your lifestyle and adapt healthy habits. Medication wouldn’t help you. They can give a temporary relief from symptoms but can not cure until the harmful factor is present. Feel free to get connected and clarify your queries in the private section. Wish you best of health.

Dear lybrateuser, - To stop smoking you have to develop a strong willpower & determination - fix a date on which you will quit it completely - remove all the articles connected with it from your home or any other place where you would have kept it so that it is completely out of your reach - keep your mind busy in some activity so that the thought & craving doesn't come in, listen to music or go out for a walk or talk to a friend especially when you know the timing of the craving - avoid friends or any relative who would coax you to have a smoke especially in a party - if you can't get over your craving then can try a gum like Nicotex which helps overcome the urge - if still not able to leave then take help of a medical professional or an NGO or any other agency.

Dear user. I can understand. Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. Smoking can affect your mouth, throat, lungs, heart, stomach and brain in many ways. Cancer is one among the potential diseases smoking can cause. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. Nicotine chewing gums too help as an alternative for cigarettes. But still you will need will power. You may consult a physician or deaddiction therapist or a rehabilitation facility for further advice. You can also opt for online deaddiction therapy. Take care.

Hello, First of all congratulations that you have been able to stop it. Now don't start it again. Deep breathing exercises are best for maintaining good lung functions. No special food as such. Avoid deep fried and spicy foods. Best of luck.
