My wife have thyroid problem as per local clinical doctor advice ,90 days dose, she is taking thyroxine sodium tablet THYROX-25 tablet from past 80 days. But instead of getting normal her TSH increased from 6.5 to 8.5. We consultant Manipal hospital specialist Dr. Arpandev. He suggested thyroxine tablet 37. 5 mcg and continue for another 90 days? But that thyroxine 37. 5 mcg isn't available in all the medical stores. 1 medical store says 38 mcg is available he can order. Can you please suggest me really that 37. 5 mcg dose is not available? Or can we go for 38 mcg dose? Coz taking 25 +12.5 msg two tablets are available but it cost me double for instead of 1 tab of 37. 5 mcg.So can you suggest best for me.

Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Thyroxine tablets are available as 12.5, 25, 50, 75 & 100 mcg doses. So you can take 25 + 12.5 mcg together. The reason for TSH going up is the initial treatment was inadequate. With correct dose TSH will remain around 3 to 4 mU/L. At that level all symptoms will disappear. Thanks.
