I am 43 yrs. Inherit cholesterol & uric acid past record ranging 220 & 7 respectively for last 5-6 years. Now since I have lost 7-8 kgs, my cholesterol is 132 & uric under 6. I am taking medicine for both 10 mg. Now shall I stop taking medicines? And my hdl os 37, which is low. What shall I eat or drink to make it little ok over 40. Does a small quantity of alcohol is good for hdl. I usually take occasionally like 3 pegs after 15-20 days type. please suggest.

Do not stop taking medicines because as you stop the ldl will start rising again. Take balanced diet with ample green leafy vegetables. Exercise regularly (at least 150 mins per week). This may raise your hdl. Many studies have shown association of moderate alcohol and low incidence of heart disease. However moderation is very important. Death rate rises rapidly with increasing number of drinks per day i.e more than 1 or 2 drinks per day.
