I have a problem relating to thyroid. 09.07. 2015= t 3 - 103, t4- 9.5, tsh - 5.0 01.03. 2016 = t3 - 119, t4- 9.9, tsh - 6.05 One of my doctors say that I have hypothyroidism and I should start eltroxin 50. Other doctor say that since my t3 n t4 are in range I should not start medicine. What should I do?

Your bmi is 34.43 kgs/ m2, which is grade 1 obesity. Is the weight increase recent one or you have been having this from earlier? because hypothyroidism does lead to weight gain. Some experts are of the opinion even at sub clinical level, it is better to give thyroxine tablets. That is done if any symptoms related hypothyroidism are noticed. You should avoid soy beans, soy containing products, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, peanuts, mustard and coffee. Use iodinated salt. Exercise regularly and take a restricted diet.
