Even though the thyroid levels were borderline,in PCOD ,these values also lead to amenorrhea and infertility. It's better to continue the tablet for atleast one year before deciding on stopping the tablet. Stopping it abruptly will cause tsh values to increase again.

If your tsh is above 10 you need to take thyronorm. If it is between 4.5 and 10 and you're experiencing marked symptoms of hypothyroidism like weakness you should start thyronorm. Or else you can monitor your tsh annually. Also check your thyroid antibodies. If you're planning to become pregnant it is advisable to keep tsh at the lowest part of the normal range.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. I am a bit surprised to see that levothyroxine 25 mcg was prescribed to you when tsh was only 4.7 mu/l. Because the usual normal range is 0.5 to 5 mu/l (in some labs based on their standards upper limit can be around 4.5 or so). Plus 6 to m=9.9 mu/l tsh level is considered as sub-clinical. In this situation no drug is given. However, if any person as presence of troublesome symptoms of hypothyroidism then treatment may be initiated. Only presence of pcos can not be the criteria. However, since you are on levothyroxine 25 mcg per day, suddenly discontinuing it may make tsh go up considerably. You may reduce the dose to 12.5 mcg per day for a few weeks and then check the tsh again. Thanks.
