Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. Madam for a person with 85 years of age, glimiperide is not suitable. Other drugs can be given provided his kidney functions are good. That can be seen by serum creatinine and urea levels. So please check those. Because if egfr (glomerular filtration rate) is < 45 ml/minute then then meformin should not be started particularly at that age. So first please check all those levels and inform the same or consult a physician there. I hope you understand the importance. Best option otherwise is starting on insulin injections. Thanks.
