Last year in april 2020, I got my tsh results and it was 8.03. I started having thyronorm 25 and in august the tsh reduced to 4.87 (slightly above the normal range), I continued taking thyronorm 25. In may 2021, my tsh is not at 1.13. It is normal but should I reduce my dosage to thyronorm 12.5? Since the only impact high tsh had on me was hairloss. It got under control but now it is again getting worse. I have a fear that thyronorm with 25 mcg will decrease my tsh below 0.5. Or 1.13 is a healthy tsh? It is very confusing.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details written. However, I am not able to understand the age and sex of the person writing the query. Without knowing those two important facts it is difficult to answer. However, usually when TSH is < 10 mU/L it is considered as sub-clinical hypothyroidism and in most cases no treatment is advocated. Only in cases where the patient has troublesome symptoms associated with hypothyroidism then treatment is initiated. Secondly in female if there is a desire to have a baby, then treatment is initiated. TSH 1.13 mU/L is still with in the normal limit. So the same dosage may be continued. Thanks.
