I am 65 male my I was taking antihypertensive medicine telmisartan 40+ chlorthalidone 6.25 since 3 year but when my bp become uncontrolled and 180/100 doctor added amlodipine 5 mg to the above combination and after taking the same for 2 months my bp now 140/80 should I stop talking amlodipine 5 mg or reduce the dose to 2.5 also when I should take bp medicine presently I am taking at bed time. Also I have type 2 diabetes for 20 years kindly advise and oblige.

Your bp. You should not stop bp tablet without consulting your physician. It only 'controls' bp at certain level but does not cure permanently. Don't change bp dosage without consulting your physician.

Please continue amlodipine same 5 mg dose as your bp is just controlled. People with diabetes need strict control of bp as high bp and diabetes both can cause proteinuria (protein leak in urine). Infact, get urine albumin/creatinine ratio to check for proteinuria. Reduce salt intake and watch your weight. Please call me if you have any further queries. Thank you.
