Hello, thanks for the query. To know whether there is proper control of blood glucose one has to do a fasting & pp glucose test. Random glucose does not give a clear picture. Since your hba1c% is 8.3%, showing uncontrolled diabetes, it is clear that present medication is not adequate. There is a need to upgrade it. Secondly there is a need to look at your diet, exercise. Looking at your height and weight with a bmi of 26.84 kgs/sq meter (normal < 23 kgs/sq meter) you are overweight. At 61 years your ideal body weight should be about 65 kgs. Which means there is an excess of 15 kgs. This itself is a hindrance in achieving better glucose control. Therefore, it is necessary to consult a physician or a diabetologist for upgrading the treatment as well as getting proper advice on diet and exercise and weight control. If you are looking for on line help, then please come back with following details: fasting, pp glucose, lipid profile, bp readings, serum creatinine and urea, dietary details, extent of daily exercise, in a private conversation then I will be able to give specific guidance and even recommend necessary medications. In this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines, no drugs can be prescribed. I await your response. Thanks.

Your hba1c is on the higher side. You have only tested random blood sugar. Do fasting and post meal sugar and the dosage of medication has to be adjusted accordingly. Follow diet and physical exercises as advised. Drink lot of water.
