HbA1c is suggestive of average blood sugar control over last 3 months which is not good in your case. Your fasting and pp blood sugar presently in acceptable limits. Hence continue same medicines regularly, keep your food habits regular, stick to low calory, low fat, high fiber diet and exercise regularly to maintain weight and sugar control.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details. Your hba1c% is definitely very high, suggesting totally uncontrolled diabetes. However, fasting and pp levels are fairly good, which is a bit surprising. I am unable to understand the reason given for missing the tablets (travelling). Because while travelling I am sure you must be taking food> if that is not missed how tablets can be missed? Weight increase some times does happen with pioglitazone and also with glimiperide. However, now if you want the treatment to be upgraded, then I need to know the following details: current fasting, pp levels, dietary pattern, lipid profile, height and weight, extent of daily exercises and bp readings. Please come in a private conversation with those details, then I will be able to give specific advice and even prescribe necessary drugs if needed. Because in this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines. No drugs can be prescribed. Or else, please contact your local specialist and get the treatment upgraded. Ideally at your age hba1c% should be < 6.5%. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, first thing that caught my attention is hba1c 10.5 and apperantly controlled fbs and ppbs levels. There are certain diabetes medicines are now available that controls your bloodsugar level and can help loose weight also. Before starting those tablets you need to check s.creat level and egfr. You may continue gemer 2 until that. You can contact me on this platform for detailed consultation which will include diet, exercise, lifestyle modification guidance and medicine guidance.

You can continue gemer 2.also take janumet along with it to control sugars fast. Triglynase has side effect of weight gain. Gemer may not cause that much weight gain. Keep checking you sugars regularly. If normal make dose of gemer to half tablet.
