I am a 71 years old male diagnosed with pre diabetes. My hba1c has gone down from 6.4 to 6.1 to 5.8 over a period of 9 months. I am taking 850 mg of metformin hcl daily. Is this the right dosage?

Hi Mr. lybrate-user! it is great that your hba1c has significantly come down. You may try reducing the dose of metformin to 500 mg at this stage. However, you need to regularly monitor the sugar levels and body weight. In this regard, I would like to know if you have lost weight over the past 9 months and if so, by how much. You may get back to me 2 weeks later with the fasting, postprandial sugar levels, weight and height.
