My son is suffering from hair falling and graying ,18 years of age, used minoxidil 5%,hair bless tablets since one month, he is not getting any improvement still falling and breaking, which shampoo is better for daily usage, no dandruff. Please tell me any alternatives.

Hair loss in men may be androgentic alopecia, telogen effluvium, alopecia areata and many more, though the first one is the most common. Androgenetic alopecia is a condition of baldness affecting young male patients. It is due to the action of male sex hormones on the hair follicle. It results in loss of hair from the front, sides and crown areas of the scalp. Though this condition cannot be cured once for all, therapies are available to reduce hair loss and maintain hair growth. Minoxidil, hair peptide serums, finasteride, PRP, hair transplantation are some of the therapies available. You need to have a long follow up with your dermatologist. Half- hearted efforts will not give sustained results. Premature greying of hair can be either constitutional or acquired. Constitutional greying is genetic, not much can be done. Acquired greying may be due to nutritional deficiencies, stress, free radical damage. This can be treated. Consult a dermatologist.
