To avoid weight gain you have to control your diet which should be low in calory, high in fibres and sugar free. Second most important thing is regular execise which is must for weight control. Insulin is last option in type two diabetes control. There are several medicines with different mechanisms to control diabetes. You can discuss with your Physician. It is not necessary to continue with insulin lifelong. It can be stopped also if your doctor thinks so.
