I am a 33 year old woman with 2 small children 3 years and 1.4 yrs. So after a recent check up I came to know my SR HDL is 33. After a google search I came to know it?s a High risk for heart disease. I don?t know if I should even go to a cardiologist immediately or make some lifestyle changes first or do what? I mean what does this imply really?

Dear lybrate-user, There's nothing to be worried about. Start doing some regular physical activity like brisk walk for 45 mins and combine it with good dietary habits .Avoid saturated fats and trans-fats as they raise the bad cholesterol level (LDL). Check the labels of food items before consuming them and avoid anything that is ?partially hydrogenated? as this is a clear indicator that it contains trans-fat. Cut out red meat from your diet and add fruits and vegetables instead. CHOOSING THE RIGHT OIL is important.
