Can cancer be a cause of low blood platelets? My mom is in Hosp and platelets is reducing and increasing with antibiotics. Current count is 72k. It went till 62k and maximum till 90k. Urgent answer will help.

Leukaemia or rarely cancer with bone marrow involvement can cause low platelets. But more common causes are septicaemia, dengue, chemotherapy, hypersplenism or idiopathic.
