I am suffering from type 2 diabetes from past 2.5 yrs. I got gestational diabetes from 5th month which continued. I am taking Glycomet trio 2 tablet --500 mg one in morning and one in evening. From past few weeks I have noticed that my sugar is not in control. Morning fasting sugar is around 200 and pp is 285. Kindly advise. I feel the medicine is not working at all for me.

Thanks for the query. When diabetes goes on for very long time (many years), most often the insulin producing beta cell activity goes down. So in many patients oral drugs may not be effective. Secondly if blood glucose remains high, that also causes damage to beta cells. Hence diabetes becomes totally uncontrolled. So in your case there has to be a re-look at the present treatment. Plus we will also have to look at diet and extent of daily exercise and weight reduction.
