My mother is diabetic from april. 2017 her random. Level is 149 another also is not very high its betwwrn 140 to 170 I want yo know which fruits should she eat her weight is 86 age 62 and which veggies some one has told that only apple mosambi orange pomegranate not any other fruit so please guide she has taken tablets one mth but Dr. told not to take no need your level. Is not hight you can see to your food habits some thi gs to avoid and then check after one mth then we will start medicine.

Fruits which she can have are apple, papaya, kiwi, jamun, pear, peach but in moderation like 100-150 gm in a day. Fruits which are strictly avoided are mango, litchi, banana, cheeku ,grapes, pineapple, pomegranate and juices. She can have all vegetables but avoid potato, sweet potato, arbi.

I agree with your doctor. Both diet and exercise should be followed for 3 months and then check HbA1c. There are no restrictions on fruits in small quantities taken after meal. No fruit juices.

There are many views on this. My view is that if the patient is fairly deligent in terms of diet (calorie intake), excercises regularly and is compliant with medicines & supplements, then any fruit is OK as long as it is seasonal and native to the region. I prefer organically grown fruits, not genetically modified in any way. Fruits where one eats with the skin needs to be eaten after peeling away the skin or washing with suitable organic cleaning medium.

She should follow all the dietary measures and daily behaviours as well as yoga and exercise and morning walk. She may avoid oily or junk food and sour products e.g. Pickles and yogurt and heavy proteins like mutton, Rajma, peas and chicken. She may use light diets Khichari and Dariya with moong daal and green vegetables soups fried with cumin seeds and ghee and garlic. She may use warm milk boiled with ginger and haldi including nuts every day. She may use fresh fruits and fruits juices in her daily life minimum one daily. She will get control over diabetes as she will follow it regular for 3-6 months.
