Can a hypothyroidism patient consume water melon? Which fruits should be avoided?
Yes, a hypothyroid patient can consume water melon. My advice to all regarding fruits is to consume seasonal fruit and fruits that is local to your area.

Low IGF-1 should not be ignored, particularly if you have also been diagnosed with insulin resistance and have multiple health issues as you have listed at such a young age. In a case such as yours, I would undertake a detailed assessment of metabolic and relevant parameters and correct imbalances, if any.

How much gap should be? To take Eltroxin after meal. After meal how many hours I can take Eltroxin.

How much gap should be? To take Eltroxin after meal.
After meal how many hours I can take Eltroxin.
The best time to take Eltroxin is to take it immediately upon awakening. Alternatively, you may take it half hour before meals or one hour after. Whatever you do, try to stick to one routine. This will ensure consistancy in absorption and bioavailability.

1. The blood sample was take on over night fasting. Then fasting BG of 134 mg/dl is on the higher side, is'nt it? 2. I was taking Eltroxin 25 units / day, which I stopped two weeks ago as I ran out of stock. Should I continue the same? Do I need a higher dosage? 3. Do I need Vit D supplements?

Yes, you need to resume Thyroid meds. For a start resume with the same dose you were prescribed. Subsequently your treating physician will modulate the dose based on lab tests and clinical picture. As a rule I always optimize Vit D for all my patients, with periodic monitoring of blood levels. The same goes for Vit B12 and other nutrients and metabolic factors.

My wife is suffering from thyroid from last 27 years her TSH keeps fluctuating as dose are reduced TSH increase dose increase TSH decrease pls suggest.

Firstly, ot is not a good idea have "knee-jerk" reaction to TSH .Hold a steady dose. And please do not self medicate. TSH level, independently, should not drive the treatment. Other thyroid and metabolic parameters as well as clinical symptoms will be taken into consideration by your treating physician. I would like to also rule out Thyroid auto-antibodies as that impacts my treatment plan. For my patients, I prefer to use compounded Thyroid containing a combination of T3 and T4.

Your lab Tests indicates improvement and your clinical symptoms should have also improved. BUT please, please, please, do not attempt to self treat. You should be under the supervision of a specialist. Management of Hypothyroidism can get tricky. Keep in mind that TSH in itself is not a very good INDEPENDENT indicator of thyroid status. One need to check other parameters too.

Doctor advised me to take thyroid medicine Eltroxin 12. 5 mcg in morning before breakfast but I am working in night shift, my shift starts at 6.30 pm in evening and shift over at 3.30 am in morning so I take my breakfast in evening at 5.30 pm, so kindly suggest me when should take the Thyroid medicine in morning or in evening, what timing would be best to take thyroid medicine Eltroxin because I am working in night shift.

Advance BHRT Certification, Fellowship in BHRT & Longevity Medicine, Fellowship in Endocrinology, MBBS

It is quite simple. Take your thyroid medicine immediately upon awakening and don't take anything orally for at least half an hour after this. So if you are working night shift and wake up at 4 pm, then you should take Eltroxin at 4 pm. If your shift changes then you need to change the timing of thyroid meds accordingly. In case your shifts change frequently then I am afraid your body will have to bear the brunt of this stress. You will have to make a major effort to maintain your health.

Why Doctors generally refuse to treat low T problems in young men by describing as it being "Normal" My fasting TSH levels are 260 and doctor refuses to acknowledge it as being low. I really need help.

In my opinion most doctors refuse to treat "Low-T" because of lack of understanding of the benefits of Testosterone Repkacement Therapy (TRT). Part of the reason for the "Fear" stems from extrapolation of sone of the negative effects of the WHI study in menopausal wonen with "Synthetic" hormones. Luckily, views on this are changing abeit slowly. HRT should be "evidence- based not "fear-based" Yes, you need help. Please feel free to set up a private consult.

In young patients such as you, I do no prefer Testosterone Replacement Therapy as the first line of treatment. The "Natural" way to do this is to optimize the metabolic parameters and facilitate better endogenous Testo production by the body.
