Currently he is suffering eye related problem with respect to diabetic retinopathy and also leg pain because of diabetic neuropathy. He is worried because of these and off late he is suddenly behaving weird in his sleep, like shouting, doing weird actions without his notice, this continues for one to three hours and becomes normal after that and he is not aware of any of the actions he did. Just wanted to know what could be the problem is it the medicines that is showing its affect on mind or any other brain related issue please let me know and whom should I consult for this issue.

Hello lybrate-user.a vitreo-retinal surgeon. It looks like your father is suffering from the consequences of diabetes. It is better to consult a neurologist. Also it is utmost importance that the blood sugar levels are under control and the medications are being taken regularly. As far as eyes is concerned, it is better to consult a vitreo-retinal surgeon. Diabetic retinopathy is a blinding and vision threatening but preventable and treatable disease. Therefore regular eye checks are mandatory which should be done periodically depending upon the severity of the retinopathy. Hope this helps you and your father but please due consult the concerned specialist.
