My mother, she was recently diagnosed with high blood urea and creatinine level, also it was found that she had low hemoglobin level. She got admitted to the hospital and now reports are normal (urea is 32, earlier 102) also blood reports are also coming normal now. I am hoping to get a diet recommendation for her as she is still under treatment. also she had viral fever but now its normal. Please give some diet recommendation for her while taking care of her diabetes in account? Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, To recommend diet to a diabetic person following details are needed: FBS, PP levels, HbA1c%, current treatment, level of daily exercise & present dietary pattern. Without these details it is not possible to suggest a dietary plan. Only certain general recommendations should be kept in mind are: avoid sweets completely, avoid deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, other bakery items, sweetened aerated drinks (colas), red meat, fructose syrup containing products and highly processed food products. She should consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits (100 g a day). Always use whole grain flour for roti and chapati. Avoid all items made of maida. Thanks.
