Mr. Lybrate-user, blood sugar levels mentioned do not show any abnormality. Levels are well within normal limits. To prevent diabetes following things are needed to be done: 1) regular exercise for 1 hour a day, 2) diet restriction so that caloric intake matches your exact daily need, based on ideal body weight (ideal body weight = height in cms - 100), 3) maintain ibw as over weight is a definite cause for diabetes, 4) avoid deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, other bakery items like white bread, sweetened aerated drinks, fructose corn syrup containing products and highly processed products, 5) consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits, 6) use whole grain products avoid refined flours like maida, and 7) refrain from smoking and alcohol. Basically adapting a modified lifestyle helps prevent t2 dm.
