Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. Looking at your tsh & t4 levels it is clear that your hypothyroidism is not in control. Ideally tsh should be around 3 to 4 mu/l & t4 should be with in the normal range. At that level all the symptoms of hypothyroidism are in check. However, in persons with 60 plus age, a slightly higher tsh that is around 5.5 to 6 mu/l can be considered as normal. In your case it is 8.5 mu/l, which means it is above the limit. There are no lifestyle changes that help in secreting t4 (thyrofrom thyroid gland. Only treatment is to take adequate dosage from outside source an only available one is taking levothyroxine (thyronorm tablets). So you will have to increase the dosage by 12.5 mcg and the check thyroid profile after 6 weeks to see whether desired level is reached. Thanks.

You must slowly taper down the dosage from 25 to 12.5 and then stop it. You can not suddenly stop the medications. Also your tsh levels are above normal so I don't suggest you to stop suddenly.
