Dear lybrate-user, I suggest that you continue the same medicine the following changes to life style will probably help reduce the quantity of carbohydrate (rice, wheat, rava, maida) in each meal and increase the quantity of protein (dhal, soya, egg white, fish or chicken). Take lot of green leafy vegetables walk 5 km per day and gradually reduce weight by 1 kg per month to ideal body weight (height in cm minus 100 will roughly be your ideal body weight in kg). Monitor blood sugars with glucometer as follows. Fasting and pp on wednesday and 2 hour after lunch and after dinner on sunday and maintain a record. If in spite of dietary adjustment your sugar levels continue to be high (fasting > 120 and post meal > 160) and if your hba1c is more than 8 % seek a consultation online to adjust your anti-diabetic drugs

Hello, thanks for the query. Fbg 150 mg & pp 250 mg, both are higher than expected in a patient having good control. Ideally fbg should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 170 mg & hba1c% <6.5%. Therefore, there is a need for upgrading the current treatment. To suggest any change I need to know the following details: 1) current fbg & pp glucose levels, hba1c%, lipid profile, serum creatinine and urea. 2) dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise, 3) weight and height, 4) bp readings. Please come back with all the necessary details preferably in a private conversation (paid consultation), then I will be able to give specific guidance and also prescribe necessary drugs if needed. In this conversation, we are supposed to give only general guidelines, no drugs can be prescribed. Or else, please contact a local physician and get necessary upgrade, which is absolutely essential. Thanks.
