Hi Sir, I got checked for my liver, had an evidence of hypodense lesion measuring 12x10 mm in size with mild peripheral enhancement in left lobe of liver just anterior to the intrahepatic ivc -likely hemangioma. Is there anything to worry about? As I have continuous pain in my abdomen.

?hypodense? is a description of an appearance on an xray or, more likely, a ct scan. The denser a tissue (the most dense is bone) the more the xray beam is blocked by it, so in an xray or ct bone is more or less white; a tissue which doesn?t blocke xrays much and lets them through to the film or the detector produces a dark image, which is characterized as ?hypodense?. A ?hypodense? liver lesion has less cell density than normal liver, and is not hemorrhagic, since the iron in red blood cells makes a clot denser on the xray or ct scan than normal liver.
