Untreated hypertension causes thickening and damage to blood vessels throughout the body. The effect will be especilly serious when the blood vessels of important organs like heart, brain, eyes and kidneys are involved. You have to resume the anti-hypertensive treatment and make sure that normal blood pressure is maintained through periodic check-ups. Low salt diet, reduction of body weight, avoiding non-veg diet, regular walking and good sleep are essential. Tests for presence of certain surgically treatable (certain endocrine tumours etc.) causes of hypertension may help.
