A 3 days old baby. S chin is shivering. Is it any problem? She does not get enough breast milk. Is it symptom of jaundice?

Do not worry about the shivering. Babies should be wrapped nicely as they cannot maintain the body temperature easily. Breast milk becomes copious as the baby suckles the breast. In the beginning, there is just colostrum which is rich in antibodies and it is the ideal food for the baby. Continue putting baby to breast frequently and DONOT give top feeds. Most babies have some physiological jaundice which clears in 15 days or so.

Chin shivering in a neonates is due to immaturity of brain and gradually disappear over 1 month or two. You should not worry about it Breast feeding is best for your baby. More frequently the baby suckles more there shall be lactation. NO jaundice has nothing to do with chin shivering. Jaundice in first week of life in 60% cases is physiological and resolves on its own Now cheer up

I understand your anxiety about your new born baby. The new born can have normal shivering movements at the chin provided these are momentary. How you have assessed that child is not getting enough milk? 2 reliable signs of enough milk are 1birth wt is regained at 15 days of age. Wt should increase at least 500grams in a month. 2.should pass diluted urine at least 6 times in 24 hours. It is not a symptom of jaundice &u may be reassured. Regards.
