I am a 37 years woman and am well overweight. I weigh 80 kg . I have hypothyroid and have everything else associated with it. I am quite used to all of that. My concern at the moment is to bring down my weight since I have constant pain in my legs . Especially my calves .Also the pain is particularly in the back of the knee area. I can feel tightness in the leg muscles. Who should I consult and how can I get rid of the weight and the pain in my legs.

Lybrate-user, are you on treatment for hypothyroidism? if not then start it immediately, with thyroxine. Dose will depend upon body weight, t4 & tsh levels. Once adequate dose is taken all symptoms will be in check. Plus you also have to avoid soy beans, soy containing products, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, peanuts, mustard & coffee. Consume good deal of green vegetables, salads & fruits. Use whole grain flour for chapati & roti. Avoid bakery items and items made of maida. Exercise daily for at least 1 hour. If you have any doubts please come back. J.
