My mother who is 68 years old has been advised Total Knee Replacement Surgery both knees. She also takes psychiatric drug nexito forte 1 tab od sulpitac ,50 1 tab od. She is diabetic but her sugar is well under control and also BP under control. She also takes 100 mg Thyronorm and TSH under control My questions are 1. Is knee replacement at 68 years safe 2. What r precautions taken pre surgery 3 What r precautions post surgery till time stitches r removed 4 Is physiotherapy reqd post surgery 5 precautions during bathing, toilet post surgery 6. How much is recovery time She has pain in knees and is not able to climb stairs. Orthopaedic has suggested surgery She is afraid as somebody has told her knee replacement is not safe and her legs are somewhat curved Her random blood sugar 1 month back was 73, BP 130/86, TSH 1.5.Please tell.
