My father 85 year old is now suffering from lungs timorous or cancer he is now admitted in hospital chandigarh drs says to do chemotherapy n radiotherapy he has not taking food n has constipation another physical test are normal no diabetes no blood pressure n not any other problems but lungs are 70% damage I ask you that is this chemotherapy or radiotherapy is possible in this age of 85y can he bears the pain of this therapy or otherwise only medicines are best kindly suggest me what is good for him Thanks Waiting for your reply

Though it's not the chronological age but general condition that is more important but definitely my opinion would be that treatment should be directed to enhance quality of life, the intent of treatment may be palliative. There is no pain in treatment though but ofcourse chemo-radiation may be accompanied by side effects and depending on his general conditions and immunity he may or may not be able to bear the toxicity but I would personally prefer to give palliative treatment and best supportive care to make patient comfortable.
