Hello there, I am currently doing intermittent fasting 20 hours fasting and 4 hours eating window. I usually break my fast with very low carb and high protein. My question is: how can I make sure during fasting hours my body is not in the starvation mode and that is storing fat?

Better to do any kind of diet after doing your constitution (vata/pit/kapha). Every person's requirement is different. Likewise you might have seen people who eats a lot but still very skinny and slim. On the contrary there are people who eat very less, but still tends to gain fat. These things depend on your constitution and metabolism rate. So while you are on starvation mode, at that time you need to analyze your body need and work pressure. On that basis you can figure out that what type of diet will suit you, whether it is intermittent/adf/keto/general diet etc.

Being a clinical dietitian I am not in favour of intermittent fasting. I always suggest my patients follow a healthy balanced diet for a healthy mind and body. For: how can I make sure during fasting hours my body is not in starvation mode and that is storing fat? For that I would suggest you, a clinical dietician, how to work in this field. Even a small change in our eating habits will impact our health. In end, I like to say that we are what we eat. Thanks and regards sanchita khanna.

Fasting like this is not good. It will lead to fat deposits. Follow this 1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Don't overeat 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. U should eat whatever your mother or grandparent eat in bfast. I mean to say whatever is your traditional food. If punjabi eat paratha, if belongs to south then take idli/ dosa etc. 4. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits, a handful of peanuts, any fresh n seasonal fruit, a cup of curd/milk etc 5. Finish your dinner at least 2 hours before going to sleep. 6. Maintain active life style7. Avoid fast foods, spicy n fried foods, carbonated beverages 8. Take a lot of green vegetables n fruit. 9.
