Hi, the main fundamental principle is balance between'calories-in' and'calories-out' after joining the gym, you should increase the intake of protein in your diet. Initially start up with basic exercises, gradually progress to vigorous ones. Avoid taking any kind of supplements or protein powder or injectables provided by the gym; always prefer natural sources of food for this. Drink 12-16glasses of water to avoid dehydration. Get your medical check-up done by a general physician before joining gym, follow the guidelines (if any) as per him. Take enough sleep and rest as cells and tissues get rejuvenated during rest/ sleep. Avoid over-straining of the muscles.
