Good evening lybrate-user ji. It is unfortunate that your child came across such difficulty at younger age. But good thing is hemoglobin e trait is mild condition and common in asians. Usually children get it when one of the parents got hb e trait and generally with less symptoms. If there is a mild anemia then you can treat with iron and folic acid supplements but you must always be cautious to avoid all other causes of anemia like worm infestation of intestine, low iron containing diet, any blood loss etc. That may aggravate the condition. You need not to worry and your physician treats the condition that lead your child's hemoglobin to drop to 7gm. And prescribe the relevant medicine that can prevent future problems. Hope your daughter will get better soon please contact if you still need further assistance.
