Black stools can be because of 1.Iron supplements 2.Dark-colored foods --sometimes dark-colored foods turn your poop black. These include: chocolate sandwich cookies, blueberries, grape juice, beets, spinach etc. The dark color should go away once you stop eating the food that caused it. 3.Bleeding ulcer- a bleeding ulcer is the most common cause of dark stools.
