Dear lybrate-user, yellowish appearance of teeth is due to (1) deposits on teeth (2) thin enamel (3) calcified pulp chambers (4) pigmentation due to food substances/ medicines every reason of causing yellowish teeth is dealt with separately and hence if you want homemade remedies for increasing the whiteness. Traditional use of coconut oil, baking soda, salt & oil have been there but all of them may create an acidic environment on tooth surface leading to enamel thinning and in turn increased yellowness of teeth. So my advice will be to go for teleconsultation on platform preferably video so that you may get appropriate remedial advice.

Cause of discoloration ? smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc.) genetics. You may have a yellow bacterial film called ?plaque? that occurs naturally in mouth that can build up. If not removed it hardens to form tartar. Advise deep cleaning, polishing, whitening (bleaching) procedures and artificial enamel filling. Here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. For faster result you can go for teeth bleaching from dentist.
