I trust my doc, just wanting to know if this cross taper seems safe. I am tapering from lexapro (escitalopram) to luvox (fluvoxamine) I am currently on 25 mg lexapro. Here?s the schedule days 1-4: drop to 10 mg lexapro, start 25 mg luvox days 5-9: 5 mg lexapro, 50 mg luvox days 9 onwards: stop lexapro, 100 mg luvox onwards this is a fast taper I understand, but I cannot have a gap in my treatment. Does this taper seem adequate and safe in your opinion? Do cross tapers cause withdrawal symptoms from the other drugs, or issues such as vomiting? (my ocd is largely around vomiting, so I am nervous about that during the taper.)

Do not self taper or adjust on your own, consult any psychiatrist and seek help. It can lead to serotonin syndrome and other unwanted effects. Good luck.

Dear Hailey, OCD needs long term treatment. Why do you want to taper or withdraw from tablets? Is it due to side effect or lack of effectiveness or you have learnt to live with OCD with therapy? You can taper in any way you like. It may NOT cause withdrawal symptoms - but it can cause your OCD symptoms to relapse. What are your plans for it? One of the plan will be to seriously undergo CBT with ERP for 6 months or so. Another plan can be to go back to the previous dose.
