My niece nithya age 23 female had continues cough last 15 days. She is currently at rosilitl hospital sowripalayam, coimbatore. As per test report she is diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis. Does she need hospitalisation or treatment at home. What medicine and how long?

Anti tb treatment has to be taken regularly at home for six to nine months depending upon the infection. Regimens for treating tb disease have an intensive phase of 2 months, followed by a continuation phase of either 4 or 7 months (total of 6 to 9 months for treatment). This is the preferred regimen for patients with newly diagnosed pulmonary tb.
