Antidepressants need not e necessarily required to be taken for lifelong. Depression comes in episodes. These episodes last for 6 months to sometimes ab bit more longer. Treatment has to be taken accordingly. Also when medicines have to be stopped, please stop it only under the guidance of your psychiatrist. Also the stopping process is usually gradually tapering off and then stopping the medicines. Also before stopping the medicines make sure you have also worked on the reason that caused you depression in first place. Do also remember do mange your diabetes under proper medical guidance.

Nope it doesn't rather it was prescribed to help you cope up with your depression. The thing with depression is that patient has to give consistent efforts and it won't happen in a day or even weeks. Now you have to do things that make you feel happy and shift your focus to creative things. Listen to music, go for a walk and exercise. Do consult with your doctor.

Hi lybrate-user, depression can be treated better with medication and therapies. You would have felt better probably due to medicines. Once been stopped your system failed to cooperate with your body and mind. Few tips to help yourself: (1) decide to live a happy life and stay focus on happiness only (2) take help of your friends or family members to help you in the process (3) engage yourself in some activities that doesn't require to think. Eg. Drawing, gardening along with medications consult a psychologist. They will help you to lead a better life and probably to decrease your medication courses too.
